Ironbark Guesthouse
Ironbark Guesthouse is a refined short stay accomodation offering located in Bells Beach, just off the Great Ocean Road. Drawing inspiration from the local environment the guesthouse has a strong sense of place and connection to the wider landscape sitting softly into the hillside. With it’s northern orientation the guesthouse captures both light and views while remaining protected from the elements to the south.
Natural materials were a common thread throughout this project with an emphasis on tactility and surface finish. Mimicking the colours of the local limestone cliffs mixed with warm clay tones and golden sand the interiors focus on soft colour washing to create a feeling of warmth and ease.
Lighting was a key consideration in the design with the opportunity to integrate automation and set ‘scenes’ for optimal ambience in the evenings. Fixtures play a major role in the feel of the space and texture and tone were key elements in creating that soft glow.
Furnishings were sourced from a mixture of vintage and local designers to meet the aesthetic vision for the project. All joinery was custom and integrated appliances were key to emphasising a minimal and clean design direction.
